Mission Statement

Z Advocacy NFP's mission is to champion disability rights through education, community building, and direct advocacy — ensuring that people with disabilities have the access, resources, and support they need to thrive.

Our Work

Community Events

We organize Disability Pride celebrations and community gatherings that bring people together to celebrate the beauty, diversity, and lived experiences of people with disabilities. Our flagship event is the annual Crystal Lake Disability Pride Event at McHenry County College.

Education & Training

We provide accessibility training, disability awareness workshops, and educational resources for businesses, organizations, schools, and community groups. We believe that education is the foundation of meaningful change.

Individual Advocacy

We support individuals with disabilities in navigating complex systems, accessing essential services, and asserting their rights in education, employment, healthcare, and community settings.

Policy & Systemic Change

We work with local and state officials, partner organizations, and community members to advance policies that promote accessibility, inclusion, and equity for all people with disabilities.

Our Approach

Everything we do is guided by the disability community. We believe that the most effective advocacy comes from those with lived experience. Our approach is:

  • Community-Led: People with disabilities set our priorities and lead our initiatives.
  • Intersectional: We recognize that disability rights are connected to all other struggles for justice and equity.
  • Accessible by Design: Accessibility is not an afterthought — it's foundational to everything we do, from our events to our communications.
  • Collaborative: We build partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and government to amplify our impact.
  • Sustainable: We're building a lasting organization that will serve the disability community for generations to come.
